This song is a sunset in July, the end of a coming-of-age movie, the perfect mix of 70s disco meets Stevie Nicks in a modern pop body. The track starts as a ballad that laments over the destruction of her life and everything she's known. By the end, the heartwrenching lyrics contrast an upbeat disco-pop groove reminiscent of classic ABBA anthems.The first single of her ‘Witchy Disco’ era & sound is the embodiment of crying on the dancefloor: catchy, soaring melodies, powerhouse vocals & a retro flair that distract from the pain under the slight rasp in her voice.

Scarlet’s story is one from novels: recording her works awaiting release and finishing school through IVs, infusions, & dozens of medications. She fell sick in 2022 - right before the release of her first song “Doesn’t Always Have to Hurt”. 2023 Started the first round of treatment, refused to quit school and started recording music every spare moment in case she would die with nothing to her name. Most of her songs to come were recorded by her and friends while working as interns on Music Row in Nashville at Starstruck, Oceanway, and other renowned studios. 2024; Songbird and other tracks were born. 2025: more treatment, moving from Nashville to LA,  and finishing the soon-to-be-EP with co-producer Andrew Kam. Now in 2026, Scarlet is a walking miracle, and in remission.

Three years later, Songbird is the song first of many to take flight.
